  5. Thank you for taking a look at "Propose It! This is a shareware
  6. program to help you write proposals. Proposals are used to close
  7. sales, win bids and present ideas. They can be used in the public
  8. and private sectors. They are also useful for presentations in
  9. larger companies. In these files you will find professionally
  10. prepared sample text and formats. This is an easy way to make you
  11. more successful in a very short time. I have designed these so
  12. that you can simply choose appropriate text, fill in a few blanks
  13. and in some cases merge some documents. Consider these files as
  14. very powerful tools in your sales or marketing strategy.

  16. (This program is also available for PC's and compatibles. Files
  17. are in ASCII and WordPerfect 5.1 format. Look for filename
  18. "PROPOSXX.ZIP".)

  21. Association of Shareware Professionals (ASP).

  23. QUICK START ~~~~~~~~~~~

  25. If you have read enough already and want to start, here are some
  26. instructions to get started. More help is available in the "User's
  27. Guide".

  32. Requirements
  33.  
  34. Any Mac with a word processing or page layout program will do
  35. fine. Ideally, program should have merge capability. If you have
  36. Microsoft Word 4.0 or Works 2.0 (or greater) the files are ready
  37. to go and include sample formats, styles, fonts (Helvetica and
  38. Times), and some very simple graphics (like boxes). These files
  39. are designed for use by those with a basic (not advanced)
  40. knowledge of word processing.

  46. The files are in three formats: Text, Word 4.0 and Works. If you
  47. have Word 4.0, open the "Word" folder and double-click on any
  48. document to open it. If you have Works 2.0, open the "Works"
  49. folder and double-click on any document to open it. If you don't
  50. have either, your word processor or page layout program can import
  51. all the documents in the "Text" folder. The "Merge" files are
  52. generic. They may need to be altered to work with your software
  53. package.

  55. Cover Letter
  56.  
  57. A folder containing a cover letter and a merge file. Use this
  58. letter with larger proposals. It isn’t good form to just send out
  59. a proposal without a cover letter. People like to know what they
  60. are receiving. Includes merge file.

  65. Folder containing a template for proposing large or more
  66. complicated projects. Includes sample merge file.

  104. support unregistered users during their evaluation period,
  105. but we will give priority to registered users, if necessary.

  113.      Shareware describes a method of distributing
  114. copyrighted software in which a user is allowed to fully
  115. evaluate the software before purchasing it.  After an
  116. evaluation period, the user is required to register the
  117. product if s/he decides to keep using it.

  119.      Shareware distribution addresses all the legitimate
  120. complaints that users have with commercial software
  121. distribution.

  123.  •    Shareware allows a user to fully evaluate a product, free of
  124.     charge, in his or her home, *before* deciding to buy it.

  127.     Boards, through Shareware disk distributors, or through user

  134.     requests for help or bug fixes than large software companies.

  139.     In short, Shareware is a user's dream come true. Users
  140. show their appreciation to developers for this extremely
  141. flexible distribution scheme by registering their software.
  142. Without user registrations Shareware software would
  143. gradually disappear.  It is not sufficient to simply let the
  144. "other guy" pay the registration. You are the other guy's
  145. "other guy".

  149.     Shareware is not "free" software.  Shareware is not
  150. Public Domain software.  The fee that you may have paid to
  151. receive a Shareware program does not mean that the software
  152. has been paid for. This money was paid to a Shareware disk
  153. vendor, User Group, Bulletin Board Service or retailer to
  154. cover their cost of getting the program to you.  Shareware
  155. software is paid for by registering your copy with the
  156. author.
